Description
The SL40 Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV) is a compact, high-performance hydrographic survey platform designed for versatility, speed, and stability. Purpose-built for water discharge measurements and bathymetric surveys, it can be rapidly configured to meet a wide range of mission requirements.
Its central moonpool accommodates instruments from 5 cm to 18 cm in diameter, allowing for fast installation of ADCPs, echo sounders, and side-scan sonars. This design enables quick switching between missions, making the SL40 ideal for multi-task operations. The platform can also be upgraded to a multi-beam echo sounder (MBES) solution, with proven stability and performance using models such as the R2Sonic 2020 and Hydro-Tech YH400P.
Automatic mission planning allows operators to pre-program surveys with just a few clicks on the base station computer. Once deployed, the SL40 operates autonomously, conducting surveys and transmitting real-time data. For precision work in confined or complex areas, the vessel can be operated manually via remote control.
Equipped with radar-based intelligent collision avoidance, the SL40 detects and avoids obstacles within 50 metres. In manual mode, real-time video feedback enhances situational awareness and navigation safety.
Powered by an innovative water jet thruster, the SL40 reaches speeds of up to 5 m/s while remaining resistant to entanglement from aquatic plants and debris. Its trimaran hull design delivers exceptional stability at high speeds, ensuring smooth and accurate data collection even in challenging environments.
The SL40 USV offers speed, adaptability, and precision, making it an outstanding choice for professional hydrographic survey missions in both inland and offshore settings.
