Description

TR45 POPUP TIMER RELEASE
Reliable Underwater Timer-Based Release with Integrated Float and Line Recovery

The TR45 Popup Timer Release is a compact, cost-effective alternative to acoustic release systems for short- to medium-term underwater deployments. Designed for simplicity and reliability, the unit is deployed underwater and programmed before deployment using the TRP-45C programmer. Once the pre-set time-until-release (TUR) has elapsed, the system activates a solid-state electrolytic erosion process to release the load.

The TR45 integrates a float and line spool with 100 ft of 1/16″ Spectra line, enabling direct retrieval or connection to a separate recovery line. Battery-operated and with no mechanical release components, it offers dependable performance with minimal risk of fouling or failure, even in challenging marine environments. Note: this release system operates in salt or brackish water only (freshwater use is not supported due to insufficient electrolysis rates)

Key Features
• Solid-state electrolytic release system with no moving parts
• Integrated float and 100 ft line spool for easy recovery
• Time-until-release programmable from 0 to 170 days in 7.5 min steps
• Release accuracy of ±2 minutes per month
• Replaceable release links (e.g., LK-40, LK-80) for flexible erosion timing
• Depth rating: 0 to 18 m (60 ft) with alternate options available
• Powered by 3x lithium AA batteries, approx. 4-year battery life
• Quick-change release link with screw-on retainer cap
• Compatible with TRP-45C programming unit for TUR setting

Uses
• Mooring recovery operations
• Temporary oceanographic instrumentation deployment
• Coastal and bay marine studies
• Saltwater-based marine engineering trials
