AR-60 ACOUSTIC RELEASE
Electrolytic Underwater Release Triggered by Acoustic Signal for Reliable Subsea Recovery
The AR-60 Acoustic Release is a robust underwater release system designed for remote recovery of subsea equipment, floats, or moorings via acoustic command. Triggered by a topside acoustic release interrogator (ARI-60), the unit operates using electrolytic erosion of a replaceable metal link, eliminating complex mechanical parts and reducing risk of fouling.
Each AR60 unit has a unique four-digit acoustic ID and activates automatically upon submersion via water contact. Upon receiving the correct command, the unit applies battery voltage to the link system for 15 minutes, initiating erosion. A green LED on the device indicates active listening mode with periodic flashes. Optional ping-back functions confirm release activation, allow tracking, and report battery health.
Capable of operating at depths of up to 1,000 feet (305 metres), the AR-60 supports slant ranges between 2,000 and 5,000 feet (610 to 1,524 metres) and a maximum release load of 200 lb (91 kg). The system is powered by 12 lithium AA batteries, providing approximately one year of battery life.
