Description
AR50 ACOUSTIC RELEASE
Compact Underwater Acoustic Release with Electrolytic Erosion and Unique ID Control
The AR50 Acoustic Release is a compact, lightweight underwater release system designed for applications requiring smaller payload capacity, simplified handling, and reliable remote activation. Operated by an acoustic command from the ARI-50 interrogator, the AR50 uses electrolytic erosion to sever a replaceable metal link after receiving the correct signal.
Each unit features a unique four-digit ID, factory-assigned and entered into the interrogator prior to deployment. Once submerged, the system activates automatically via water contact with the link and coil contacts. Upon command, the unit applies voltage for 15 minutes to erode the link, triggering release. A green LED flashes every 10 seconds to indicate active listening status, and a short test pulse (checkout command) is also available for pre-deployment verification.
Ideal for mooring recovery or float-activated deployments, the AR50 offers a lower-cost and smaller alternative to the AR60, with easier link replacement via screw-on retainer cap. It supports slant ranges up to 3,000 ft (914 m) and operates at depths down to 1,500 ft (450 m). Powered by 9 lithium AA batteries, it provides up to one year of autonomous battery life.
