Autonomous AUV for Passive Acoustic Monitoring (PAM) and Marine Noise Assessment

The YUCO-PAM is a fully autonomous micro-AUV purpose-built for passive acoustic monitoring (PAM), providing a compact and efficient alternative to traditional towed or moored hydrophones. Instead of a mounted sensor, YUCO-PAM integrates a Porpoise underwater acoustic recorder from RS Aqua, enabling advanced monitoring of both anthropogenic noise (e.g., ship traffic, pile driving) and marine mammal vocalisations, including high-frequency species like harbour porpoises.

With selectable sampling rates up to 384 kHz and storage capacity of up to 4 TB, YUCO-PAM can operate in full autonomy or synchronise acoustic recordings with navigation patterns triggered by the AUV. This makes it a versatile and non-intrusive solution for marine soundscape assessments.
